ONCE AGAIN Elias Tabac triumphed not only in the Spartan Men’s Elite Series but also in the Spartan Super at the Spartan Philippines National Series competition held in Vermosa, Cavite on February 27-28, 2023.

Elite Spartan athletes from throughout the country participated in the much anticipated competitions in an effort to win the coveted title and earn a spot in the Southeast Asian Games in May 2023.

The 29-year old Tabac from Calaitan, Bayugan City, showed that he was a force to be reckoned with by winning the challenging course, rope climbs, tire flips, muddy routes, and many other challenges. Only a few seconds separated him from his closest rival, Hiroki Asami, at the finish line. Asami was followed by Jeffrey Regino, Johnny Doyugan, and Gabb Rosario.

Tabac has qualified for the Southeast Asian Games, which will be held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, thanks to the convincing victory. He will compete for the Philippines in the obstacle course racing division with the hopes of bringing home the gold medal and doing so with pride.

Later this year, he also intends to participate in the Spartan Race World Championship in Texas, USA. The global championship, which serves as the season’s high point and gathers the best Spartan athletes from all over the world to compete for the title of world champion, is the culmination of the Spartan Race season.

Tabac, the lone contestant from the Philippines at the 2021 World Spartan Championship in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, finished 19th overall and among the top 20 elite finishers with a time of two hours and 50 minutes.
