1,716 families affected by floods get aid from PGAS
Some 1,716 families in four barangays in the towns of Talacogon and La Paz particularly Barangay Sabang Gibong, Maharlika, and La Flora in Talacogon and Barangay Sabang Adgawan in La Paz affected by floods received relief goods from the provincial government.
The flood was caused by the continuous rains that hit the province for a couple of weeks that had great effects on the living condition of the barangay residents in said localities.
Maria Lalisan, a resident of Sabang Gibong said that they even celebrated Christmas like ordinary days when they were supposed to celebrate the holidays joyfully.
Lalisan added, she has been living in the area for more than 50 years and they can already predict when the planting season will be. But since two years ago until now, they seldom do the planting because of the unpredictable weather caused by climate change.
Because of the situation, the provincial government distributed relief goods to the residents of the above-mentioned barangays.
Using a jet ski, Gov. Cane moved from one barangay to the other, while personally distributing the relief goods and seeing and assessing the situation to ensure that all the people in the affected area will not experience and suffer hunger.
Gov. Cane was assisted by the personnel from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
Anatolia Cagumay and Bertmar Morta, both residents of Maharlika, expressed the joy and gratitude they feel for the help extended to them by the provincial government and Team Eddiebong saying they felt the sincere concern of the government for people in need and particularly in their area.
