AGUSAN DEL SUR- The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has reminded all barangay officials to conduct a barangay assembly for the first semester of calendar year 2012.
Elva Theresa D. Velmonte, Local Government Operations Officer (LGOO) VI of DILG Agusan del Sur said, this is pursuant to Proclamation No.260 dated September 30,2011 where the Barangay Assembly Day is all set on March 31,2012 in accordance with Section 397 (b) of the Local Government Code.
According to Velmonte, every barangay must undertake the State of Barangay Address (SOBA) with emphasis on calendar year 2011 Second Semester Accomplishments; CY 2011 Second Semester Financial Report to include the itemized monthly collections and disbursement and the summary of income and expenditures and updates on CY 2012 first semester on its ongoing programs and projects.
As stated in the memorandum circular signed by DILG Secretary Jesse M. Robredo, the barangay officials must also have to discuss on issues or concerns affecting the barangay on peace and order, disaster preparedness, solid waste management, implementation of the Aksyon Barangay Kontra Dengue (ABKD) particularly on regular clean-up activities and discussion on responsibilities of the barangay on the National Greening Program particularly on the production of seedlings for the nationwide synchronized planting that will be held on June 25, 2012 in celebration of the Philippines Arbor Day.
Furthermore, the barangay officials may also undertake other activities they deem appropriate to create public awareness on, and generate participation in the barangay assembly such as medical and dental mission, tiangge, cultural presentations and others.
All city and municipal mayors are enjoined to ensure compliance and maximum participation of all barangays in the said undertaking in their respective jurisdictions that is pursuant to Proclamation No.260.
